Cerro Atravesado

Cerro Atravesado - you seen it often at some of my shots from the deck - is one of the best-known landmarks in the beautiful city of La Paz, Baja California Sur; It is located in the eastern area, close to the Roma, 20 de Noviembre, Benito Juárez, Flores Magón, Guelatao, Lázaro Cárdenas and Márquez de León colonies.

The main streets that surround it are Blvd. Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta, Blvd. Margarita Maza de Juárez and the Libramiento Norte La Paz-El Tecolote. It measures approximately 3000 meters in length and 261 meters above sea level.

The lower part of this well-known elevation is approximately 125 meters above sea level, where various activities organized by some groups dedicated to sports or ecotourism take place and begin, such as, for example, mountain bike tours, hiking and the unforgettable walk to the cross. that marks the top of the emblematic hill.
In recent years, the inhabitants of La Paz have made this site a place of recreation and leisure, which is perfect for exercising, cycling and other outdoor activities, since getting to the top becomes quite a challenge. . In addition to sports, Cerro Atravesado is an ideal space to spend a pleasant time with friends, take time to enjoy the beautiful sunsets that can be seen from there and admire the spectacular view of the city.

While walking along the trails it is possible to appreciate the typical flora of the place such as choya, palvadán, palo verde or cardón; Some specimens of the regional fauna are also observed such as auras, crows, pitayera pigeons (white wings), sparrows, among others.

It is worth remembering that around the 50's, when this area was not yet populated, people viewed Cerro Atravesado with a certain fear, few dared to visit it, perhaps because of various legends of horrors and ghosts that were transmitted from generation after generation among the residents of La Paz; There were even stories of treasures buried in this area, which were sought for a long time by the most adventurous.
